Set up Remote Data Access
Description

NOTE:

Accountants only - these steps don't apply if you're using Sage 50 Client Manager to invite clients. Instead, your client must invite you as a user.

Cause
Resolution

Follow these steps to enable users to access your company data remotely with our Remote Data Access feature.

NOTE:

If you have multiple companies, repeat this process for each company.

▼ Back up your data

Always take a backup of your data before you start.

 

▼ Allow Remote Data Access

If you need to upgrade the number of users. Leave your details and we'll be in touch.

  1. Open Sage 50 Accounts and log in as Manager.
  2. Go to Settings, User Management, then Users.
  3. Select MANAGER, then Edit.
  4. Select the Allow Remote Data Access checkbox, confirm your details, then press Continue.

  5. Enter your first and last name, then press Yes, I am the right person.
  6. Confirm your company information, then select Continue.
  7. Log in to your Sage account.
  8. If you don't have a Sage account, select Create account and follow the steps to create one.
  9. Select the Allow Remote Data Access checkbox.
  10. Choose Continue

  • Select Get started now with your Sage account.
  • Follow the onscreen instructions.
▼ Create a Passphrase

TIP:

The passphrase is different to your password. For more information us our Remote Data Access - Passphrase article.

Anyone who needs to connect to this company must enter this Passphrase. It must be at least 15 characters long and contain at least one uppercase and one lowercase character. 

  1. Enter and confirm the passphrase and save it in a secure location.
  2. Select Continue then Save.

The system will upload your data to RDA.

NOTE:

Now that you've connected your company to RDA, you can manage your users:

  1. For every additional user accessing your data remotely, you must create a separate Sage account.
  2. Give remote access to existing users: Enable enable them to access the company data remotely.
  3. Create new users with remote access: Set up new users and give them permissions to access your company data remotely.
  4. Access company data remotely: Connect to your data from another computer.
