Resolution
Before you start
- Check your data is stored on a computer that meets the System requirements for Sage 50 Accounts
- Use our Upgrade your software guide to check if you need to download and install the latest updates for your software
- Check that your upload speed is 2Mbps or higher and your download speed is 4Mbps or higher
Check your software version number
If you use Remote Data Access, for it to work you must be using Sage 50 Accounts v27 or above.
To check your version:
- Open your software and choose to open Demonstration data then click OK.
- Logon as MANAGER with no password and click OK.
- Click Help then click About and check your software version number.
If you need to, Download and install the latest version of Sage 50 Accounts.
If you're using Sage 50 Accounts v27 or above and this message appears, please continue with the steps below.

Clear the DNS Cache
On the client computer
- Stop the following services on the client computer.
To stop a service press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard then enter Services.msc and press enter, then right-click the required service and click Stop.- Sage 50 Accounts Control vXX

- Press the Windows key + R then type ipconfig /flushdns then click OK
- Start the following services on the client computer:

On the computer that holds your data
- Stop the following services on the computer where you hold your data.

- Press the Windows key + R then type ipconfig /registerdns and click OK
- Start the following services on the computer where you hold your data:

Remove and re-add the company
- Open Sage 50 Accounts, from the Select Company window, make a note of the data path of the company that you're trying to open.
NOTE: Select Company window doesn't appear? Browse to C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\ and delete the sage.ini file then try again. - Select the required company.
In v27 and above, click on the three dots, then click Remove Company then click Yes.
In V26, click Remove Company then click Yes. - Click Add Company then select Use an existing company stored on your network.
- Click Browse then browse to the path noted in step 1.
- Click Next then click Connect.
If this fails, as an alternative you can re-add the company by adding the data path to the COMPANY file.- Sage Accounts v29 - C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2023\company

Delete the queue.dta file
- Ensure all users are logged out of Sage 50 Accounts, including at any secondary sites if you use Remote Data Access.

Disable the anti-virus software
Temporarily disable your antivirus software, if this allows you to upload your data, apply the following exclusions to your antivirus software:
- Sage Drive servers (drive.sage.com:443/HTTPS))
- Amazon S3 servers (s3.amazonaws.com: 443/HTTPS)
- Sage ID servers (signon2.sso.services.sage.com: 443/HTTPS)
- Port 443
NOTE: We can't support you with modifying your antivirus software. If you need help with this, please refer to your local IT support.
Stop Sage processes in task manager
- On the server computer press CTRL+ALT+Delete on your keyboard then click Start Task Manager.
- Click the Processes tab then select the Show processes form all users check box.
- Find the following processes, then for each select End Process.
NOTE: If you're using Windows 8 or SBS 2012, these processes may have the prefix Sage 50 or SG50.- Backupstandaloneapp
- Checkdatastandaloneapp
- Restorestandaloneapp
Reinstall the services or software on the computer where you store your data
As a last resort, on the computer where you store your data, uninstall and reinstall either the data services or software. Use our Download and install the Sage Accounts Data Service guide to do this.
