The service is stuck in a starting or stopping
CAUTION: This should be done as a last resort. If the service is in use, it can cause data corruption. The safest way to restart these services is to reboot your computer, or the computer that holds your data.
If the service state is on either starting or stopping, follow the steps below to force the service to stop and try again. Alternatively, you can restart the machine mentioned in the error message. If you're unsure about restarting your server, speak to your IT administrator.
Stopping the service using Taskkill
You can stop the service with the Taskkill command in the command prompt. However, if the service is in use, it might cause corruption. Use this as a last resort, and make sure you check your data once you're back in Sage 50 Accounts.
- Press the Windows Key then type cmd then right-click the Command Prompt app and click Run as administrator.
- Enter the following, depending on your version:
Sage Accounts v29 and above | Taskkill /f /IM sg50svc.exe |
Sage Accounts v28 | Taskkill /f /IM sg50svc_v28.exe |
Sage Accounts v27 | Taskkill /f /IM sg50svc_v27.exe |
Sage Accounts v26 | Taskkill /f /IM sg50svc_v26.exe |
To stop the Control Service the following command prompts can be used:
