Remote Data Access computers have different Dataset IDs

Cause
Resolution

If computers have different Dataset IDs, they're not looking at the same company data.

First, check if there are transactions showing on one computer that aren't on the other:

  1. Open Transactions.
  2. Check whether the most recent transactions match on both computers.
  3. If recent transactions don't match, find the last time they matched. 
  4. Choose your scenario below.

▼ One computer has no transactions after the last matching transaction, but the other one does
  1. Back up your data on both computers.
  2. On the computer that has no transactions after the last match, disconnect the company from Remote Data Access.
  3. Delete the company on that computer.
  4. Connect to the correct Remote Data Access data on that computer.

To confirm the computers are in sync:

  1. Go to Help, select About.
  2. Check the Dataset ID in the Remote Data Access Information section.

▼ Neither computer has transactions after the last matching transaction

The transaction information is the same, but they're not in sync.

To resolve this:

  1. Back up your data on both computers.
  2. Decide which set of data you want to use.
  3. Remove your company from Remote Data Access on the other computer.
  4. Delete the company on the other computer.
  5. Connect to the correct Remote Data Access data on the other computer.

To confirm the computers are in sync:

  1. Go to Help, select About.
  2. Check the Dataset ID in the Remote Data Access Information section.

▼ Both computers have transactions after the last matching transaction
  1. Back up your data on each computer, then decide which needs the least reprocessing.

On that computer, either: 

  • Manually re-process missing transactions
  • Export missing transactions from the data, then import them into the data on the other computer

NOTE:

Import any records you created on this computer before importing transactions. 

  1. Once that computer is up to date, disconnect this computer from Remote Data Access.
  2. Reconnect the other computer to the correct Remote Data Access data.

To confirm the computers are in sync:

  1. Go to Help, select About.
  2. Check the Dataset ID in the Remote Data Access Information section.
