Operating System Requirements
Sage 50 Accounts v31 and above works on:
- Windows 11
- Windows 10 (except Windows 10S), build 1709 or later
- Windows Server 2016 or above
Check your activation details
If you don't already have your activation details, you can find them in your My Sage Account.
- Visit https://my.sage.co.uk, enter your details and click Sign In.
TIP: If you don't already have a Sage Account, create a My Sage log in > - Click Software, then Active Products.
- Click your serial number, then make a note of your:
- Account number
- Serial number
- Activation key
Check if you have a 64-bit operating system

Download and install Sage 50 Accounts
Click the link below to download the 32-bit, or 64-bit version of Sage 50 Accounts:
- Download Sage 50 Accounts 64-bit
Download Sage 50 Accounts 32-bit
NOTE: We recommend using the 64-bit version if you can. - If prompted, click Yes to allow this app to make changes to your device.
- Click Accept License Agreement & Install.
NOTE: We recommend installing the full program on all computers where you'll use Sage 50 Accounts. If you need more help during installation, click the icon at the top right of the install window. - Once the installation is complete, click Launch Sage 50 Accounts to move on to the next step.
Add company data
You have 4 options to add a company:
- Create a new company and set it up from scratch
- Connect to existing company data on another computer over a local network
- Restore a backup of existing company data
- Download existing company data on another computer using Remote Data Access
Click which option you'd like to use below to see step-by-step instructions on how to get started:
- Open Sage 50 Accounts.
- In the Add a Company window click Create.
- Click Continue then enter your software Serial number, Activation key and Account number.
You can find these on your order confirmation email. - Click Next, then to confirm your licence, click OK and click OK.
- To create your new company, enter your details, clicking Next on each window.
- Once you've entered all your details, in the Summary window click Create.
- Enter your manager Password you created during the process then click OK.
Once you've installed the software where you want your data to be, you can install at your other locations using the installation steps above.
Before you begin
Gather the information you need to connect to the data:
- Open Sage 50 Accounts, log in as manager then click Help, then click About.
- Under Licence Information note your Serial Number, Activation Key and Account number.
- Under Program Details, note your Data Directory and Version Number.
Connect to the data
NOTE: When you first open Sage 50 Accounts you're prompted to enter your serial number, activation key and if required your account number.
- Open Sage 50 Accounts.
- Click Connect, then click Browse and go the Data Directory you made a note of earlier.
TIP: Your data path should be in the format of a UNC path, for example \\server\sage\accounts. For more information on this, see our guide here > - Click Continue, then click Connect.
- Enter your Logon name and Password then click OK.
If your data is from an older version you're prompted to update the data. If you need to add another company you can click File, New then click Company.

If you took a backup of your company data on another computer, you can restore this backup to recreate your existing company on this new computer.
- Open Sage 50 Accounts.
- In the Add a Company window click Restore.
- Click Browse, then browse to the path of your backup, then click Open.
- Click Continue then enter your software Serial number, Activation key and Account number.
You can find these on your order confirmation email. - Click Next, then to confirm your licence, click OK and click OK.
- Click Restore and enter your Logon name and Password then click OK.
You're now logged into your restored company data.
As long as the company data you want to access has been set up for Remote Data Access, you can access it remotely from the computer that you've installed Sage 50 Accounts on.

Final checks
In Sage 50 Accounts, click Help, then About, and check that your version number is 31.0.378.0
