Check your computer details
- Open Sage 50 Accounts, log in as manager then go to Help, then About.
- Under Licence Information make a note of your Serial Number, Activation Key and Account number.
- Under Program Details, make a note of your Version Number.
Things you need to know
- Check your new computer meets the system requirements
- Check you're logged on to your new computer as a Windows administrator
Using Remote Data Access on v27? If you're moving your main site to a new computer, we recommend you download and install the latest version on all computers first. Follow the v27 steps to change your main site to a new location if you're unable to upgrade.
- Go to File, then select Back up.
- Enter a file name for your backup.
TIP: The default file name is SageAccts company name, the date and time.
- Click Browse, select the location. then click OK.
- Select the Select all file types to include in backup checkbox, then click OK.
- To check your data, select Yes and click OK.
- Click Close, then Close again.
- Click OK.
- On your new computer, close all software then download the relevant software version.
- To begin the installation, locate and double-click the downloaded file, for example:
Sage50Accounts_v30.1.342.0.exe
To view your Downloads folder, press Ctrl + J on your keyboard. - If prompted, click Yes to allow this app to change your device.
- Select the I accept the terms of the Licence Agreement checkbox and click Next.
- Select the Standard (recommended) installation type and click Yes, begin installation.
- Once complete, the software checks for any updates. If prompted, select Install then click Yes, begin installation.
- Select Restart now if prompted to restart your computer.
- If not prompted to restart, to complete the install, click Close, then click Close.
NEW: In v30.1 and above, you'll see a Manage cloud connection window when you restore a backup from a different computer. This occurs when you use connected services.
- Open Sage 50 Accounts.
- In the Add a Company window, choose one of the following:
- Select Connect if using Remote Data Access to connect remotely to that computer
- If you don't use Remote Data Access, click Restore and continue to step 3
- Click Browse, then browse to the path of your backup, then click Open.
- Click Continue then enter the software Serial number, Activation key and Account number you noted earlier.
- Click Next, then to confirm your licence, click OK and click OK.
- Click Restore and enter your Logon name and Password then click OK.
You're now ready to start using Sage 50 Accounts on your new computer. We recommend you now run the Check Data option again.
Once you've installed Sage 50 Accounts on your new computer, you can uninstall Sage 50 Accounts from your old computer.
