How to check and resolve this message in Sage 50 Accounts.
When you run a report you may receive the following message:
'Unable to allocate an environment handle'.
Before you start
This issue can be related to Windows permissions, try logging on as an administrator and see if the problem still occurs.
If it doesn't, the user's access may need to be amended.

If the issue persists
Does the message appear when you run a standard report?
For example, does the message appear when you run the customer list report?
- Click Customers then click Reports
- Click Customer details then look for the Customer List report.
- Click Preview to run the report.

- Click File then click Backup
- Select all file types to include in a backup.
- Click Browse on the right and choose the desired location.

If the issue still occurs, click Next.

As the message only appears when you run a customised report this may be an issue with the report.
To resolve this, please Submit a query online.

- Click File then Restore and Browse
- Select the required backup file then Open.
- Click OK then Yes.
If the issue still occurs, click Next.

- Press the Windows key
+ R. - In the Open box, type intl.cpl then click OK.
The Formats tab opens automatically.
- In the Format list, click the required language. For example, English (United Kingdom) or English (Ireland).
- Click the Administrative tab and click Change system locale.
- Click the Current system locale drop-down, then click the required location. For example, United Kingdom or Ireland.
- Click OK.
If the issue still occurs, click Next.

- Search the Start menu for "optionalfeatures" and open it. Ensure there is a blue dot or tick on .Net framework.
- Search the Start menu for Command Prompt, right click then Run as administrator then Allow
- type sfc /scannow then press Enter.
NOTE: The scan may take several minutes to complete.
When the scan is complete, the SFC tool indicates whether any integrity violations were found and offers you the chance to fix any that are.
If the issue still occurs, click Next.

Exclude all Sage files from your antivirus software
The antivirus software may be conflicting with the Sage 50 Accounts software, therefore you should ensure all Sage files are excluded from the antivirus software. For a list of files to exclude, refer to our article.

Uninstall then reinstall Sage 50 Accounts into a new directory
- Press the Windows key (or click the Start menu button) then click the settings icon
. - Choose the Apps option in Windows 10 and 11. In Windows 8.1 look for Add and Remove Programs.
- Scroll through the list of application and then find and right-click the version of Sage 50 Accounts you want to remove, then click Uninstall.
- Reinstall Sage 50 Accounts into a new directory and install any required updates.
