You can now follow our five step process to configure your antivirus software to work alongside Sage 50 Accounts.
1 - Exclude files used by Sage Accounts
Files with the following file extensions are commonly used by Sage 50 Accounts. To stop your antivirus software from interfering with these files, we recommend you exclude them from the real time scanning routine

2 - Exclude folders used by Sage Accounts
This section lists the folders Sage 50 Accounts uses. Excluding these from the anti virus real time scan may go a long way to improving the performance of your software.
- The Sage Accounts program directory.
- The Sage Accounts data directory. You should exclude the folder that contains the ACCDATA folder. If you don't want to exclude this entire folder, you should exclude ACCDATA and all folders inside it.

3 - Configure process exclusions
When you add a process to a process exclusion list, your Antivirus software won't scan files opened by that process. You should now add the following relevant files as process exclusions in your anti virus software.

Running reports in Sage 50 Accounts creates temporary files. Your antivirus software scan may lock these files.
This section explains how to change the location of these files, so you can configure antivirus software to exclude a specific folder rather than all files with a certain extension.

CAUTION: This involves making changes to the Microsoft Windows registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require a reinstall of the Microsoft Windows operating system to correct them. Sage can't guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Registry Editor can be solved. If in any doubt, please refer to your IT Administrator.

- Within this key, create a new String Value called TempPathname.
TempPathname is case sensitive. Using the wrong case causes an error message when running reports in Sage Account - Modify the String Value and in the Value data box > type in the path to the folder where you want the temporary files to be created.
We recommend you create a new folder in the Sage settings directory called Reports_Temp and enter the path to this folder in the Value data box. To find the Settings directory, within the software browse to Help > About. - You can now configure your anti virus software to exclude the following file types specifically in this folder:

You've now configured Sage Accounts to create temporary files in a specific folder when running reports.
