▼ Troubleshoot missing custom layouts Restore your layouts only backup
If you've taken a backup that includes layouts, you can restore your customised documents.
If your backup also includes data files, these overwrite your current data. Make sure you take a current data only backup before restoring. You can then restore this after you restore your layouts.
- On the menu bar, click File then click Restore.
- Click Browse then browse to where you saved your backup and click Open.
- Click OK then click Yes.
- Click OK, enter your logon name and password then click OK.
- Check to see if the customised layout is there. Repeat this process until you've found a backup that contains the missing custom layout.
NOTE: Once you find the correct backup, if this includes data files, restore your up-to-date files only backup. This will bring your data back up to date without affecting the restored layouts.
- Once you find a backup with the missing customised layout, take a layout only backup to keep for future reference.
Check the layouts folder
Layouts including Invoices, Credit notes, Sales and Purchase Orders and Statements are in the Layouts folder in your data directory.
To access the layouts folder from within your software:
- Click Invoices and Credits, then single click any record.
- Click Print, then click Layouts.
- Right-click any layout in the list, then select Show in Explorer.
The layouts folder will then open.
Check this folder for the layout you want to see. If it isn't in here, you must locate it and add it to this folder.
If you can see the layout in one company and not another:
- Copy the file from the first company's layout folder.
- Paste into the folder of the second company.
TIP: The Letters folder holds the letters layouts. To access this, repeat the steps above in Customers, then selecting Letters.
