Set up 2-factor authentication (2FA) with an authenticator app
Description

Here we'll explain how to set up 2FA using a mobile app, like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.

 NOTE: We don't recommend a specific authenticator. You can find several options on your app store. 

Cause
Resolution
  1. Download and install the app of your choice.
     NOTE: To learn about the benefits of using an app, visit our Benefits of using 2-factor authentication with an app guide.  
  2. Open your authenticator app and choose the option to add a new account.
  3. Select the Scan a QR code option.
  4. Use your authenticator app to scan the QR code in the 2FA setup window.

  5. Enter the 6-digit code from the authenticator into the setup using an app screen and select Continue.
  6. Make a note of your 24-digit recovery code and store it in a safe location.
     NOTE: If your 2FA method is ever unavailable, you need this code to access your account. 
  7. Select the I have saved my recovery code check box, then click Continue.
  8. The setup is now complete, and you can now log in to your account.
