Change my 2-factor authentication (2FA) backup method
Description

Once you set up a backup method, you can use this alternative method to reset 2FA, or generate a new recovery key.

If required, you can change your backup method. For example, if you need to:

  • Change from using a recovery phone number to using an email address
  • Change the recovery email address to a different email address
  • Change the recovery phone number to a different phone number
Cause
Resolution
  1. Go to account.sso.sage.com and enter your username and password.
  2. If prompted, enter your 6-digit authentication code.

    TIP:

    If you can't authenticate, use your recovery key.

  3. Select Protect your account.
  4. On the 2-factor authentication page, select Manage backup method.

  5. Enter your 6-digit code to authorise access to change your backup method.
  6. Select Change backup method.
  7. Select your preferred backup method. This allows you to access your account if you can't authenticate and have lost your recovery key.
  8. Enter the new Email address or Phone number and select Continue.
    • If you chose phone number, select whether you want to receive a text message or a phone call
  9. You'll receive a verification code to the new backup method you selected.
  10. Enter the 6-digit code you receive on the new method, and select Continue.

You've successfully changed your backup method. You can now use this backup method when you're unable to authenticate using your 2FA device or recovery key.
