Important updates

There are a variety of updates we want to share with you, not all will impact you/your customers. Please review them carefully as they may affect actions you/your customer need to take.

Customers with planned migrations to Sage 200

Sage 50 and Sage 200 have different release cycles, as the migration tool is updated during the Sage 200 release cycle this could create a challenge where the customer has a migration booked in and installs the latest Sage 50 release meaning the data migration cannot talk place until the tool is updated. We asked you to submit details of any customers in this position, those received will be excluded from our automated auto-update service.

If you haven’t notified us and/or you want to ensure the customer does not upgrade then you can follow Guidance on how to de-activate the upgrade notification.

Depending on the customers version of Sage 50 they will be excluded as follows:

      • Customers registered on Sage 50 Accounts/Sage 50 Accounts v26.2 or earlier, may only be excluded from the notification process up to 31st August. This is due to them using an earlier version of the Sage Licence Service which is being retired at the end of September. They must upgrade to continue to receive software use and they will need time to complete the update.
      • Customers registered on Sage 50 Accounts/Sage 50 Accounts v27 or above can be excluded from the notification process until 31st October which gives sufficient time for upgrades to Sage 200 to be completed and/or the necessary actions to be taken in respect to CIM 50.

Customers with 3rd Party solutions

Customers using solutions provided through our ISV network need to ensure that they confirm the solution is compatible with this release. To this end, we provided all developers with a pre-release copy to allow testing to be undertaken, please contact them directly for further information on compatibility.

Customers with Sage 50 Manufacturing

Sage 50 Manufacturing has been retired from our product range. We reached out last year to let customers know that we'd identified an issue with Sage 50 Manufacturing when Sage 50 Accounts v28 was installed, you can see a copy of the message here. A further communication was sent last week to all customers and partners as we’ve identified that v28.1 release prevents the manufacturing solution from opening.

At this time customers still using Sage 50 Manufacturing should not upgrade beyond Sage 50 Accounts/Sage 50 Accounts v27.2.

Reminder for customers with Jobcosting integration

Sage Jobcosting has been retired from our product range and all customers communicated to. We’ve identified an issue with the integration between Sage Jobcosting and Sage 50 Accounts/Sage 50 Accounts v28.1.

At this time if customers are still using Sage Jobcosting they should not upgrade beyond Sage 50 Accounts/Sage 50 Accounts v28.

Reminder of TLS for Sage 50 Accounts/Sage 50 Accounts

TLS is a security protocol required for a variety of services, including the Sage Licence Service and AutoUpdate which enables products to communicate securely. It’s important to note that TLS is not a protocol provided by Sage.

Sage 50 Accounts/Sage 50 Accounts v26.2 and below use a version of these services which operate using the TLS 1.0/1.1 protocol. As this security protocol is now retired, with no future security updates scheduled, it represents a risk to customers if they continue to use it. To remove this risk, customers must upgrade to a compatible version. You can see our latest message here.
