How to install Sage 50 Accounts onto a new computer and connect to your data on your network
Process
1 - Before you start
NOTE: If your single-user software and data are on the same computer and you want to move both to a new computer, please refer to our alternative guide.
Check your computer details
Open Sage 50 Accounts, log in as manager then click Help, then click About.
Under Licence Information note your Serial Number, Activation Key and Account number.
Under Program Details note your Data Directory and Version Number.
Important: If you use Remote Data Access and you're moving your main site to a new computer, we recommend installing Sage 50 Accounts v28 on all computers first. If this isn't possible, please refer to our alternative guide on changing your main site to a new location.
2 - Back up and check your data
Make sure you complete an all files back up on your old computer, so you have a copy of your data. We recommend you backup to a memory stick or a shared drive.
ClickFile,then clickBack up.
Enter a file name for your backup.
Tip: The default file name is SageAcctsCompany Name YYYY-MM-DD hh.mm.ss.001.
Click Browse and select the location and clickOK.
ClickSelect all file types to include in backup, then click OK.
Tocheck your data, clickYes and click OK.
ClickClose, then click Close again.
ClickOK.
You need to resolve all check data errors before you install your new software.
To begin the installation, locate and double-click the downloaded file, for example, [BCB:262:UKI - 50 Accounts full download version number:ECB] To view your Downloads folder, pressCtrl + J on your keyboard.
If prompted, click Yes to allow this app to make changes to your device.
Select the I accept the terms of the Licence Agreement check box and click Next.
Click the Standard (recommended) installation type and click Yes, begin installation.
Once complete, the software checks for any updates, if prompted click Install then click Yes, begin installation.
If prompted to restart your computer, click Restart now.
If not prompted to restart, to complete the install, click Close, then click Close.
4 - Connect to your data on the new computer
NOTE: When you first open Sage 50 Accounts you are prompted to enter your serial number, activation key and if required your account number.
Open Sage 50 Accounts.
Click Connect, then click Browse and go the Data Directory you made a note of earlier.
TIP: If your data path uses a mapped drive, for example, S:\COMPANY.000\ACCDATA, for help creating a mapped drive on your new computer, please refer to our guide to common Windows tasks.
Click Continue, then click Connect.
Enter your Logon name and Password then click OK.
If your data is from an older version you're prompted to update the data. If you need to add another company you can click File, New then click Company.

5 - Uninstall from your old computer
Once you've installed Sage Accounts on your new computer and you're happy you have everything you need, you can uninstall Sage 50 Accountsfrom your old computer.
