Software closes when you open bank reconciliation

How to resolve the issue of Sage 50 Accounts closing when you click the bank reconciliation option.

Description

This can occur when the bank files in your data become damaged. To resolve this, rename them and the software automatically creates a new one.

Rename the bank data files

  1. Back up your data.
  2. On the computer that holds your accounts data, open Sage 50 Accounts.
  3. Go to Help, then About and make a note of the Data Directory.
  4. Close Sage 50 Accounts.
  5. Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard.
  6. Type Services.msc then press Enter.
  7. Right-click the relevant service and select Stop.

  8. Right-click the relevant control service and select Stop.

  9. Press the Windows Key + E on your keyboard and select This PC.
  10. Browse to the Data Directory you noted in step 2, then open the ACCDATA folder.
  11. Right-click the following files, select Rename and add OLD. For example, BKSTAT to OLDBKSTAT. 
    • BKSTAT
    • BKSTATIX
    • BKSTLN
    • BKSTLNIX
    • BKSTLNXX
  12. Close Windows Explorer.
  13. Restart the services you stopped in steps 6 and 7.

You're now able to open the bank reconciliation option.


If the issue persists

If the issue persists or you see a message about not selecting a bank account reindex and compress your data then try again.
