How to submit pension data to Nest via online submissions in Sage Payroll.

Description

Sage Payroll can send your pension data directly to Nest. You don't need to create and manually upload any files.

Resolution

Before you start

Make sure the pension information in Payroll matches the details you’ve set up on your Nest account.

Check that your employees’ National Insurance (NI) numbers are correct.
Where an employee has no NI number, pension contributions need to deduct before tax. See Employee with no national insurance (NI) number - NEST pensions.

▼How to check in Sage Payroll

Select Pensions from the menu bar.
Select Edit Pension next to the NEST Corporation heading.
Review the information.
Select View / Edit on each group and payment source.

Submit your pension data directly to Nest

When you process a pay run, you’re taken to the Completed Pay Run screen. If not there, select Pay runs and choose the period you wish to submit for.

From the Pension submission section, select View Submission Details.
A summary of employees pension details and contributions appears for you to review.
Select Submit online.
NOTE: If you're submitting for the first time, enter you Nest credentials when prompted.
Select Submit.
Once your file submits, the following message appears in the Pension submissions section:

‘The NEST pension values were successfully submitted’

If you receive an error message, you must correct it. Once corrected, attempt the submission again.
