Summary

How to set up new nominal ledger accounts in Sage Accounting.

Description

Ledger accounts, also called nominal accounts or nominal codes, provide a structured way to categorise financial transactions.

If you've come from another system such as Sage 50, you can Import your Chart of accounts. You can only do this before entering any transactions into Sage Accounting.

Resolution

Create a ledger account

  1. From Settings, select Business Settings.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Select New Ledger Account.
  4. Complete the ledger account fields. The fields marked with an asterisk * are mandatory.
For more information, read our article about Ledger account fields.
  5. Select the relevant Visibility checkboxes based on where you want the ledger to be available.
NOTE: Only ledger accounts with a category of Bank or Credit Card can be visible in Bank.
