Show or hide a ledger account

How this works

You cannot delete a ledger account once created.

Hide any ledger accounts that you no longer want to use. Once hidden you can't select them when entering transactions.

You cannot hide control accounts. These are special ledger accounts we use automatically when creating transactions.

Ledger accounts with balances still show on your reports.

Set visibility on transactions

If you can't find a ledger account when entering transactions, check that it is visible for the type of transaction you're creating.

To prevent errors, we set ledger accounts to only be available on certain types of transactions.

For example, your sales ledger accounts are only available for sales transactions and receipts.

If you need to use the ledger account in a different area, change the Visibility setting. For example, if you are sending customer a refund, you may want to use a Sales ledger account on a payment.

  1. From Settings, then Business Settings, choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Open the ledger account you want to check.
  3. Select the relevant areas in the Visibility section and Save.

Hide a ledger account

  1. From Settings, then Business Settings, choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Open on the relevant ledger account.
  3. Clear the Included in Chart check box.
  4. Select Save.
