Correct transactions

Correct transactions to change the ledger account or analysis type for:

• Paid (allocated) invoices and credit notes
• VAT reconciled transactions
• Bank reconciled transactions

You can't edit VAT payments posted from a VAT return. 

 TIP: Only one user can complete corrections at a time. You'll need full access rights to make corrections. 

Making corrections

1. From Adjustments, select Correct transactions.
2. Select Make Correction.
3. Use the dropdown box under Field to choose the criteria you'll search for transactions with.
4. Use the Value option to enter something to search for, like an amount, date, reference or ledger account.
5. Tick to select the transactions you want to correct and click Next.
6. Select the new ledger account or analysis type from the Change to dropdown list.
7. If required, enter the reason for changing the item.
8. Select Review, and then Update.

Control accounts

You can't add or remove a Control account ledger for a transaction using Correct Transactions. Accounting automatically assigns ledgers such as bank accounts, trade debtors, trade creditors and VAT. Find out more about Control Accounts.

Analysis types

Ensure the transaction type matches changing the analysis type. For example, you can't switch the analysis type on a purchase invoice to one configured only for sales. Find out more about Analysis types. 

Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) transactions

You can't use this to switch to or from any CIS ledger accounts because we use the CIS ledger accounts to make CIS deductions. Learn about How CIS transactions update your ledger accounts.

• Transactions haven't updated using Correct Transactions
• Change the ledger account or analysis type
• Check previously corrected transactions
• Edit reconciled transactions
• Edit, delete or reverse a journal
• Edit or delete an opening balance for ledger accounts
• Cleared bank transactions
