This guide explains how to resolve this error that you may see when trying to open a Remote Data Access company at either a main or remote site on Sage 50 Accounts.
When opening a company at a remote site after upgrading from Sage 50 Accounts v27.1 or below to a later version, the following error may appear:
'The Remote Data Access Company you have selected is using an earlier version of Sage Accounts. The data must be upgraded at the main site to the version of Sage Accounts you have installed before you can access this company.'
There are three possible causes of this error:
- Cause 1 - The remote site has upgraded to a later version of Sage 50 Accounts, but the main site hasn't.
- Cause 2 - The remote site was upgraded to the later version before the upgrade of the main site and data was finalised.
- Cause 3 - The main site computer is no longer available.
We'll run you through how to resolve this error covering the fix for each potential cause.
TIP: If you get this message at the main site, follow the same fix as for Cause 3.
