Work from home, on the road or anywhere you like using Remote Data Access in Sage 50 Accounts.
Description
If you are home working, Sage 50 Accounts has some great software features you and your colleagues can take advantage of, all you need is a computer or laptop and a broadband Internet connection.
The software uses Remote Data Access, which enables you to:
Stay connected from home, on the road or anywhere you like and work.
Easily share live accounts data securely online, including with your accountant.
Full control of the access rights so you can always rest assured that your data is safe and secure.
Preparation
It's a good idea to check some basic information about your software now, these preparation tasks can only be completed at your main site where your accounts data is held:
Version number- To check your version number, in Sage 50 Accounts, clickHelpthen clickAbout. Your version number is listed underProgram Details.
Account number, serial number and activation key- These details are listed on the same page underLicence Information.
Sage login- Make sure you, and any colleagues who need to work remotely have set up aSage login.

Check your data location- You need to check if your data is held on a local computer or elsewhere, maybe on a server.Read more >
Using Remote Data Access during the Coronavirus lockdown- If your data is stored at your office premises we recommend either your IT department or a designated user has remote access via remote desktop, VPN etc to your server to ensure you can perform any essential routines required.
How to work at home
If you need to work from home on Sage, there are two options:
NOTE: Another option is to get remote access to your work computer, but this must be organised by your IT.
Single users / local installation - Restore a backup
If you use Sage 50 Accounts on a single computer, with no network or Remote Data Access / Sage Drive connections then you can install the software on a computer or laptop at home, create a new company and restore a backup from your main installation.
You'll need to make a note of your serial number and activation key, in Sage 50 Accounts, clickHelpand then clickAboutand they're listed underLicence information.
When you’ve finished working at home and return to the office, you can back up again and restore your working from home backup at your normal site.

Remote Data Access
With Sage 50 Accounts v27 and above, Remote Data Access can be used to connect to your accounts data from anywhere with an installation of the software and a reliable Internet connection, so you're no longer tied to the office when you want to work on your accounts. You can share a copy of your accounts data securely in the cloud. then you and your colleagues can access and update the data from remote locations using the Internet.
