Summary

How to restore a backup in Sage 50 Accounts.

Description

There are several reasons to restore a backup:

  • Transfer data to a new computer
  • Fix a mistake by returning to an earlier point, to reprocess
  • Copy reports or layouts to another installation of the software

Resolution

These steps are for when you can log into a company.

If you can't log in to the company or it isn't listed in your Sage 50 Accounts, create a new company from a backup. This requires a multi-company licence.

TIP: Need a licence for an additional company? Submit your details and we'll be in touch.

Before you start

Take a backup of your current data in case you need it later. Restoring a backup will overwrite the company's current data.

You can't restore a backup from a newer version into an older one. For example, a backup from Sage 50 Accounts v31 won't restore into v30 or below.

TIP: If you save your backups in a .zip file or another type of archive folder, extract the file before restoring.

How to restore your data

  1. Log in to the company you want to restore a backup into.
  2. Click File then select Restore.

NOTE: Sage backup files will have a file extension of.001

  1. Click Browse, browse to and select the backup file you want to restore.

TIP: If you've backed up using this computer before, find your latest backup in the Previous backups tab. To restore a scheduled backup stored in OneDrive, click OneDrive.

  2. Select Open, click OK then Yes to the message.
  3. When the restore has been successful, click OK.
  4. Enter your logon name and password, then click OK

CAUTION: In v30.1 and above, restoring a backup of your data to a different location or computer will show a Manage cloud connection window. This appears if you use connected services.

You've now successfully restored your backup. We recommend you check your data.
