Corrupt username criteria files

How to fix username corruption in Sage 50 Accounts.

Description

To resolve issues related to the username you're using, you must delete the criteria files. Sometimes you need to stop using your current username and create a new one.

Resolution

 

NOTE:

If you delete these files, any sorts, searches, or filters in the relevant module reset. To retain this information for unaffected areas, delete the files for the area where the issue is occurring only.

 Delete your username criteria files

  1. Log all other users out of Sage 50 Accounts.
  2. Back up your data.
  3. Access the computer that holds your data. If you aren't sure, check our where is my data kept? article.
  4. Close then re-open Sage 50 Accounts, then in the Company Selection window, select the required company.
  5. Press the three dots to the left of the company name Three vertical dots., then press Folder location.
    In Sage 50 50 Accounts v26.3 - in the Select Company window, press Open Folder Location.
  6. Make a note of this folder location as you'll need it later.
  7. Close Sage 50 Accounts but keep the window open with your folders on.
  8. Stop the Data Service or lock Remote Data Access.
  9. In the window with your folders, double-click the ACCDATA folder, then delete any files from the following list:

USERNAME represents the username that you're having a problem with. For example, if the username is David, a file will say David.SLC. If you don't have a username, the file is manager.xxx.

  1. Browse to and double-click the CRITERIA folder.
  2. Delete any files that relate to the username with the issue.

    TIP:

    The criteria folder is in the same location as your ACCDATA folder.

  3. Restart the Sage 50 Accounts data services or unlock Remote Data Access.
  4. Open your software and test again.

Create a new username

  1. Open Sage 50 Accounts and log in MANAGER.
  2. Go to Settings, select User Management, then Users.
  3. Delete the user you're having problems with.
  4. Create a new user, ensuring it has a slightly different user name.
  5. Login as the new user and test again.

If the Issue persists

A criteria file can also appear in the Taskopt folder.

  1. Log everyone out of Sage 50 Accounts.
  2. Back up your data.
  3. Ensure you have your Data Directory at hand.
    Remember, to find this click Help, then About, then look under Program Details.
  4. Close Sage 50 Accounts and Stop the Data Service or lock Remote Data Access.
  5. Browse to the folder that contains the Accdata folder and open the TaskOpt folder.
  6. Delete any relevant criteria files in this folder.
