Before following the steps below, you need to check whether you're using Remote Data Access.
If this displays an ID you're using Remote Data Access, if it's blank you're not using Remote Data Access.
Before you can make any changes to your data files, to protect the integrity of your data you must lock Remote Data Access to prevent anyone accessing the data.
View steps for v28 and above > To do this:
- Log all users out of Sage 50 Accounts.
To see who's currently logged in click Settings then click User Management and click Active Sessions. - From the main site log into Sage 50 Accounts using the manager logon.
- Click Settings then click Remote Data Access Settings.
- Click Pause Live Sync.
- Make any required changes on the data.
- To unlock Remote Data Access, click Tools then click Remote Data Access Settings.
- Click Resume Live Sync, then click OK.
NOTE: If you can't access these options, follow the section below to make the required changes as if without Remote Data Access, then delete the queue.dta file before restarting the data service.
View steps for v27 > To do this:
- Log all users out of Sage 50 Accounts.
To see who's currently logged in click Settings then click User Management and click Active Sessions. - From the main site log into Sage 50 Accounts using the manager logon.
- Click Tools then click Remote Data Access and click Lock Remote Data Access.
- Make any required changes on the data at the main site.
- To unlock Remote Data Access, click Tools then click Remote Data Access and click Refresh Remote Data Access and click OK.
NOTE: If you can't access these options, follow the section below to make the required changes as if without Remote Data Access, then delete the queue.dta file before restarting the data service.
I use Sage 50 Accounts without Remote Data Access
Before you can make any changes to your data files, to protect the integrity of your data you must stop the Sage Accounts Data Service on the computer where the data is held, to prevent anyone accessing the data.
- Log all users out of Sage 50 Accounts.
- Sage 50 Accounts v27 and above - to see who's currently logged in click Settings then click User Management and click Active Sessions
- On the computer where your data is held stop the data service:
- Click the Start menu and click All programs then click Sage Accounts and click Data Service Manager.
- Click Tools then click Data Service Manager and click OK.
TIP: You can also access the Data Service Manager with Sage 50 Accounts, click Tools then click Data Service Manager and click OK, if required, create a backup then close Sage 50 Accounts.
- Check that the correct Server name appears in the Server box, you can amend this if required. If you're unsure of your server name, contact your IT administrator.
- Click Connect then make sure all users have logged out of Sage Accounts. A list of still logged in users is shown at the bottom of the window.
- Click Stop Service.
NOTE: You can start and stop the service like any Windows service using your operating system. To do this, press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard > enter Services.msc > right-click Sage 50 Accounts Service > Start, Stop or Restart as required.
- Make your required changes.
- Start the Sage Accounts Data Service on the computer where your data is held.
- On the computer where your data is held > Start menu > All programs > Sage Accounts > Data Service Manager.
- Tools > Data Service Manager > OK.
TIP: You can also access the Data Service Manager with Sage 50 Accounts. Click Tools > Data Service Manager > OK > If required, create a backup > close Sage 50 Accounts.
- Check that the correct Server name appears in the Server box, you can amend this if required > if you're unsure of your server name, contact your IT administrator.
- Click Connect > Start Service.
