Create financial budgets
Description

Financial budgets help businesses manage finances, measure performance, control costs, set objectives, and allocate resources.

Use historical data or custom projections to create budgets that fit your business strategy.

NOTE:

This feature is only available in Sage Accounting Plus. Find information on how to upgrade your Sage subscription.

Create your financial budget

  1. Go to Settings, then select Business settings.
  2. Choose Financial budgets.
  3. A blank financial budget for the current financial year appears.
  4. Decide how you want to edit the budget:

NOTE:

You can only create one financial budget but you can add extra financial years as required.


Add a financial year to your budget

When you want to create your budget for another financial year: 

  1. Go to Settings, then Business Settings.
  2. Select Financial Budgets.
  3. Go to Manage budget, then select Add financial year
  4. Choose the financial year you want to add and select Next.
  5. Decide how you want to fill in your budget:
    • To start with a blank template that you can export, update, and re-import, choose From a template spreadsheet
    • To use your financial data to create a base that you can export, update and re-import, choose From a financial year
  6. If you chose From a template spreadsheet, go to step 8.
  7. Pick the financial year you want to use as a basis for your budget.

    NOTE:

    Only the financial years you have been using in Sage Accounting will appear in this dropdown.

  8. You can adjust your budget by category. Choose the category you wish to adjust and specify the percentage to increase or decrease by.
  9. Select Create budget.

Use the dropdown at the top right to switch between budget periods.
