Viewing your Stripe activity in Sage
Description
Cause
Resolution

Once you’ve connected Stripe to Sage Accounting, your customers can make card payments from your emailed invoices. You can also take your customer’s card information and apply a payment to their invoice.

The Stripe account in Sage Accounting is different than your other bank accounts. You cannot connect it to a bank feed, import statements, transfer (in or out), or perform a manual reconciliation. You also can't delete Stripe activity.

Additionally, an updated Stripe balance shows in Sage Accounting. You can't adjust the balance by creating transactions. If you've not got the connections between Stripe and Accounting, you may need to do a manual journal to reconcile the fees to the customer invoice. Read more about using Stripe for card payments >

To view your Stripe receipts

  1. Go to Banking, then select the Stripe bank account.
  2. Select a transaction to open its details. From this page, you can see the:
    • Total amount charged
    • Stripe fee amount
    • Net amount you received in your bank account, and more
  3. You can also select the invoice number to view the related invoice.
  4. Close the transaction to return to the Stripe bank activity page.

Accessing the Stripe Dashboard

Once set up, you can also view transactions on the Stripe Dashboard in Sage Accounting. To access it, go to Banking then select View Dashboard on the Stripe account. Do not attempt to process Accounting transactions from the Stripe Dashboard.

VAT on Stripe fees

Stripe is an Irish company, so we class Stripe fees as EU reverse charges. While these fees are exempt, they will show in boxes 6 and 7 on your VAT return. This is because they classify as EU services that incur reverse charge VAT.
