How do I check if my computer is the main site or remote site?
Description

NOTE: In Sage 50 Accounts v28 and above, all sites are equal and there are no main or remote sites.

Priority when accessing data via Remote Data Access depends on whether you access it from the main site or a remote site

  • The main site set up RDA, for example an office computer
  • A remote site is any computer connecting remotely, for example a home computer

If you're unsure whether you're using RDA, or to identify the main site or remote site, follow these steps.

Check the site

Check if you're using RDA or to identify the main site or remote site.

  1. In Sage 50 Accounts, go to Help then About.
  2. In the Remote Data Access Information section, check Site.

Remote Data Access Information section with Site showing Main.

The Site shows one of the following:

N/A You're not currently using RDA for this company.
Main You share your data using RDA and you're the main site.
Remote You share your data using RDA and you're a remote site.
â–¼Can't access the company
  1. Open Sage 50 Accounts.
  2. On the Company Selection window, check the Remote Data Access column.
  3. This will show Online - Main, or Online - Remote. If it's blank, it's not on RDA.

NOTE: The Remote Data Access column only shows if at least one of your companies is on RDA.

Company Selection window with Online-Main in the Remote Data Access column.

Change site

You can change your main site to a new location. Whether it's a current remote site or a new computer, we recommend you upgrade to the latest version of Sage 50 Accounts.

Alternatively, you can change the main site to a new location on Sage 50 Accounts v27.
