| Restore a backup of your data |
Description | There are several reasons why you might want to restore a backup, for example: - Because you bought a new computer and want to transfer your data
- You made a mistake and want to start processing from before the mistake was made
- You have reports or layouts that you want to copy to another installation of the software
It's easy to restore a backup, we'll show you how in the steps below. |
Resolution | Before you start - Take a backup of your current data in case you ever need to go back to it. This is because when you restore a backup it overwrites the company's current data
- You can't restore a backup from more recent software versions into earlier versions. For example, you can't restore a backup from Sage 50 Accounts v28 into v27 or below
- These steps are for when you can log into a company
TIP: If you're unable to log into a company that you want to restore a backup into, or the company you're restoring data for isn't listed in your Sage 50 Accounts, you can create a new company from a backup to restore it instead. This requires a multi-company license.
- If you save your backups in a .zip file or other type of archive folder, you'll need to extract the required backup file from the archive first
