Company name shows as 'INVALID DIRECTORY PATH' or 'NO DATA FOUND'
Description

When you open Sage 50 Accounts, you see a Company name replaced with one of the following:

  •  **** INVALID DIRECTORY PATH ****
  • **** NO DATA FOUND ****

This happens when the program can't find the data folder, ACCDATA, in the path that appears in the Select Company window.  Also, if there's no data in this folder. This path is taken from the COMPANY file.

Reasons for not finding the ACCDATA folder include:

  • Network connection is unavailable
  • A folder in the data path is missing
  • Path is pointing to the wrong path in the Select Company window
  • Recent Windows updates disable Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5

Ensure the software isn't set to run in compatibility mode.

  2. Click the Compatibility tab and ensure the Run this program in compatibility mode check box is clear.

    Sage 50 Accounts v30 C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2024
    Sage 50 Accounts v29 C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2023

  1. Hold down the Windows key  + E to open File Explorer.
  2. Browse as far as you can, in this example you'd browse to C:\Program Files\Sage\Accounts.

NOTE: When you manually browse the path, it may bring up a network password that needs to be turned off.

  3. Click File, then click New, then click Folder.
  4. Enter the name of the missing folder, for example, Company.003.
  5. Create the ACCDATA folder next, by double-clicking the new folder, select File, then New, then Folder.
  6. Enter the name of the next missing folder, ACCDATA.

Once the ACCDATA folder exists, open Sage 50 Accounts and complete the ActiveSetup Wizard. You can then restore your latest backup.
