Prepare to install Before you install, you need to run through some checks. NOTE: If you're installing on a terminal server, you need to follow different steps. Install Sage 50 Payroll or Sage 50 P11D on a terminal server. Map drives During the steps below, you need to browse to your network share location to store your P11D data. We recommend that you map a drive to the shared folder for your P11D data on the client computers. You can then browse to this path when you set up Sage 50 P11D below. For further information about mapping a network drive, refer to your Windows operating system documentation. Download and install Sage 50 P11D Download Sage 50 P11D - Close Sage 50 P11D and all other Sage software you have open on your machine.

- When the Download complete window appears, click Close.
You need to download this file to each client computer. Install on the client computers Follow the steps below on each computer that will access your P11D data. - Double-click Sage50P11D_30069.exe.
- To confirm you accept the licence agreement and proceed, click Accept Licence.
- Check your installation directory is correct, then click Next.
- Check that the data directory is set correctly then click Next again.
NOTE: You must create and browse to a new folder for your v30 data, that's separate to your v29 folder. - Click Next to begin the installation.
- To complete the installation you must restart your computer, to do this click Yes.
When your installation progress appears to be near completion, allow time for the installation to complete.  Activation details When you first open your new version of Sage 50 P11D, enter your serial number and activation key to activate it. If you don't have these to hand, find them with our find my serial number and activation key tool. NOTE: Alternatively, log in to v29, click FIle then Upgrade Program and note the Serial Number and Current key. Keep these details to hand, ready for the steps below. Your P11D data Your next step is to connect to your P11D data, or if you don't have any to create a new database. You need to complete this on one client computer. Click the relevant option below to find out what you need to do. ▼ Set up v30 with your existing v29 data Note your v29 data location Take note of the path to your data in last years' software. You need to enter this path in the v30 data transfer wizard. - Log in to Sage 50 P11D v29 as normal.
- Click File then Change Database Location.
- Note the path here, excluding 'P11D.MDB'.
TIP: For example, if the path is c:\programdata\sage\sage 50 p11d\29.0\001\p11ddata\P11D.MDB, note c:\programdata\sage\sage 50 p11d\29.0\001\p11ddata\. - Click Cancel to close this window.
Data transfer wizard Follow the steps below to transfer the data for your company/companies into v30. If you processed 2024/2025 benefits in v29, the steps below transfer them to v30. - Open Sage 50 P11D v30.
- Enter your serial number and activation key and click Next.
- Select Upgrade Existing data, then click Next.
- Click Browse, and browse to the path you noted in the note your v29 data location section.
- Double-click P11D.MDB.
- Click Next, then Finish.
- The Upgrade Data wizard opens, to start the upgrade click Next.
- If you'd like to, you can click View the Upgrade log and print this for your records.
- Click Finish to complete the data upgrade process.
- Click OK on the message that appears advising P11D needs to recalculate employees' figures.
▼ Create new data - Open Sage 50 P11D.
- Enter your serial number and activation key then click Next.
- Click Create New Data then click Next.
- Browse to the location where you want to store your data, then click Next.
- To complete the P11D Startup Wizard and open the software, click Finish.
- To log in to Sage 50 P11D, accept the default user name of Administrator, do not enter a password then click Login.
We recommend you set up a password on the Administrator right away. For help with this, and to create other users, visit our create and manage user names article. Before you log in Once your data is in place, follow the share the data to all client computers section below. This ensures all clients have the correct access to be able to use and amend the P11D database. Share the data to all client computers So that the client computers can access the Sage 50 P11D data files, you must share the folder that contains the P11DData folder on your network share. Allow at least Modify access for all files within the P11DData folder. For help with sharing folders, please refer to your IT support or Windows support guides.
