Change your business trading name and address

Follow these steps to update your company trading name and address in Sage Accounting. This is the address that shows on your customer and supplier invoices.

Can I use a different trading name to my registered business name?

Yes, legally you can operate with a separate "trading as" (T/A) name for customer-facing activities like invoices and marketing.

However, your official financial and accounting records in Sage must reflect your registered business name exactly as it appears with Companies House and HMRC.

Always clearly disclose your registered company details alongside your trading name to remain legally compliant.

When to update your trading details

Update your trading name or address in Sage when you want different details shown on your customer invoices.

Your trading details can differ from your registered business details. Updating them ensures:

• Clear communication with customers and suppliers
• Your invoices and other business documents display accurate details

How to update your trading name or address

Follow these steps:

1. From your business name dropdown menu, select Manage business.
2. From the Business details area, select Edit business details.
3. Enter your trading name into the Business name box.
4. Update your trading address details as needed.
5. Select Save.

What happens next

Your updated trading name and address will immediately appear on any new invoices you create.

Sage doesn't update invoices you created before the change.

Your official registered details remain unchanged in Sage.
