Summary

How to repair and compact your data in Sage 50 Payroll.

Description

You can use the repair option in Sage 50 Payroll to reduce your database size and help make your backups smaller.

This routine also helps to tidy up your data and prevent data corruption. We recommend running the routine once a month.

You can also use the repair procedure if Sage 50 Payroll can't read your employee database. For example, if you're processing your payroll and an error message appears.

Examples of error messages:

  • Cannot connect to Database
  • Failed to Update
  • Pay5

The Repair option repairs and compacts the data. You don't need to run the Compact procedure separately.

Resolution

From Sage 50 Payroll v32, DBUtilities sorts your list of companies alphabetically. You can also use the filter to type a company name to find it on the list.

NOTE:

The search tool is case-sensitive. Ensure you type the company name with the same capitalisation as it has on your company list.
