 What is open banking

Most same-day bank transfers are free using the Fast Payments Service.  We recommend checking with your bank or building society for any additional fees associated.

Accountants - Can I support my client with the Salary payments feature

Accountants / Bookkeepers won’t have direct access to authorise payments on behalf of their client.  With Sage Payroll you can support your client with two different options:

  • Add client as a Payroll Admin User – you can invite the person responsible for authorising payments as a Payroll Admin user. Once you’ve completed their regular pay run, you can then ask that user to trigger the Payment Authorisation process.

Accountants - Can I use Salary payments for my own practice

Yes, you can set up and use Salary payments in Sage Payroll for your practice.

Is open banking safe and secure?

Yes. It’s regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and uses the same high-security, encrypted systems as your bank.

Only third-party apps and websites provided by FCA accredited businesses can enrol in the open banking Directory.

Sage has partnered with Crezco who are authorised and regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority. They are an Authorised Electronic Money Institution (Firm Reference Number 1027543). Read more at crezco.com/terms.

Who will be able to authenticate my payments

Sage Payroll empowers Payroll Admin users who can authorise the funds for payments from the employer bank account via their mobile or online banking app.

We also support the capability for Payroll admins to email a secure link. This is to the individual who authorises payments via their mobile banking or online banking app. This option is ideal where the person authorising the payment doesn’t have access to Sage Payroll. For example, accountants running a payroll on behalf of their client.

NOTE:

You’ll be logging into your bank or building society mobile or online banking app. Standard authentication security checks such as multi-factor authentication will be in place to prove it’s you making the payment will apply.
