Can I use a different trading name to my registered business name?

However, your official financial and accounting records in Sage must reflect your registered business name exactly as it appears with Companies House and HMRC.

When to update your trading details

Update your trading name or address in Sage when you want different details shown on your customer invoices.

Your trading details can differ from your registered business details. Updating them ensures:

• Clear communication with customers and suppliers
• Your invoices and other business documents display accurate details

How to update your trading name or address

Follow these steps:

1. Log into Sage Accounting.
2. Select your business name in the top-right corner, then select Manage Business Account.
3. Select the Business details tab.
4. Enter your trading name into the Business name box.
5. Update your trading address details as needed.
6. Select Save.

What happens next

Your updated trading name and address will immediately appear on any new invoices you create.

Sage doesn't update invoices you created before the change.

Your official registered details remain unchanged in Sage.
