Recording sales to customers
Description

While not every customer will pay you what you're owed straight away, now you're using Sage Accounting we can help make sure it's clear to customers what they owe and make it easy to pay using sales invoices.

Sales invoices are your record of what customers owe you, what they bought and when they should pay. You create and save them in Sage Accounting and then send the invoices to your customers so you both have a record.

You can include details of what customers have bought and how many they buy. Knowing which products and services you're selling helps you understand your business better and plan for the future. You can find out more about products and services in our Products and Services article.

You can print and mail invoices to your customers or send them via email.

If you're ready to start using invoices now, there's more information in the Send your first invoice article.

Customising your invoices

If you want to, you can customise the appearance of your invoices. For example, you can:

  • Add your company logo
  • Change the document layout
  • Change colours and fonts
  • Add your payment details
  • Include terms and conditions or extra notes

For more information about how to change your invoices, see Changing what's shown on documents.

Tracking your invoices

After sending invoices to your customers, you can track their viewing and payment statuses. You can view individual payment details on each invoice through a document timeline or collectively for all your invoices using a report.

For more information about tracking your invoices, see our Tracking Invoices article.

Duplicating invoices

To save you time, if you need to create an invoice that's like one you already have, you can easily copy the existing one. From your invoice, simply click Copy.

If you want to create the same invoice at regular intervals, you can do that too. This type of recurring invoice can be set up in lots of different ways and is explained in more detail in our Recurring Invoices article
