Download and upgrade to Sage 50 Accounts v27
Description

The following steps guide you through upgrading from an earlier version of Sage 50 Accounts to Sage 50 Accounts v27.

NOTE: Sage 50 Accounts v27 is not the lastest version of Sage 50 Account. To upgrade to the latest version, please visit sage.co.uk/install

1 - Before you install

Check your computer details

  1. Click Help, then click About.
  2. Make a note of the Program Directory, which you need during the installation.
  3. Under Sage Drive Information, check the Site value is: 
    • Main - you're at the main site, upgrade this site first.
    • Remote - upgrade the main site before this site.
    • N/A - this means you don't use Sage Drive.


Back up and check your data

  1. Click File, then click Back up.
  2. Enter a file name for your backup.
    Tip: The default file name is SageAcctsCompany Name YYYY-MM-DD hh.mm.ss.001.
  3. Click Browse and select the location and click OK.
  4. Click Select all file types to include in backup, then click OK.
  5. To check your data, click Yes and click OK.
  6. Click Close, then click Close again.
  7. Click OK.

At the main site

Update the computer that holds your data

If you're happy to install the full Sage 50 software on the computer that holds your data, you can  skip this step and continue to 'Update all computers at the main site'. If not, follow the steps below to install the Sage 50 Accounts data service on your data computer.

  1. On the computer that holds your data close all software, then click the link below:
  2. This will download automatically to your downloads folder, or click Save.
  3. To begin the installation, locate and double-click Sage50Accounts_27.2_Dataservice.exe
    To view your Downloads folder, press Ctrl on your keyboard.
  4. Select the I accept the terms of the Licence Agreement check box and click Next.
  5. Click the Data service only installation type.
  6. Once complete, click Close.

Update all computers at the main site

Install the full software on all computers you use Sage 50 Accounts on. You should also install the full software on the computer that holds your data if you have not installed the Sage 50 Accounts data service above.

  1. Close all software, then click the link below:
  2. This will download automatically to your downloads folder, or click Save.
  3. To begin the installation, locate and double-click Sage50Accounts_27.2.exe
    To view your Downloads folder, press Ctrl on your keyboard.
  4. If prompted, click Yes to allow this app to make changes to your device.
  5. Select the I accept the terms of the Licence Agreement check box and click Next.
  6. Check the location matches the directory you noted, then click Upgrade.
  7. To continue, click Yes, begin installation.
  8. Once installed the software checks for any updates, if prompted download and install them.
  9. If prompted to restart your computer, make sure you have any work saved, then click Restart now.
  10. If not prompted to restart, to complete the install, click Close, then click Close.

Update your company data

The first time you open each company after updating your software, you're prompted to update the data.

  1. Open each company and click OK to update the data.
    If a company is not connected using Remote Data Access, instead click Yes and continue to step 4.
  2. Enter your Sage ID Email and click Continue.
  3. Enter your Sage ID Password and click Log In.
  4. Once the data is updated and checked, click OK then click Close.
  5. If connected using Remote Data Access, click OK to upload your data.
  6. Enter your Logon name and Password.
Note: In Sage 50 Accounts v27 and above the number of permitted password characters has increased from 10 to 32. In earlier versions, only the first 10 characters of your password were read by the software. When entering your password in your software after upgrading, please ensure you only enter the first 10 characters.

At each remote site

If you use Remote Data Access (formerly Sage Drive), you must install the full software at each site.

  1. Close all software, then click the link below:
  2. This will download automatically to your downloads folder, or click Save.
  3. To begin the installation, locate and double-click Sage50Accounts_27.2.exe
    To view your Downloads folder, press Ctrl on your keyboard.
  4. If prompted, click Yes to allow this app to make changes to your device.
  5. Select the I accept the terms of the Licence Agreement check box and click Next.
  6. Check the location matches the directory you noted, then click Upgrade.
  7. To continue, click Yes, begin installation.
  8. Once installed the software checks for any updates, if prompted download and install them.
  9. If prompted to restart your computer, make sure you have any work saved, then click Restart now.
  10. If not prompted to restart, to complete the install, click Close, then click Launch Sage 50 Accounts.

3 - Refresh Microsoft 365 credentials

If you integrate with Office 365, you need to refresh the Microsoft 365 credentials. You need to do this once, on one computer.

  1. Open Sage 50 Accounts using the Manager log on details.
  2. From the main menu, click Settings, then click Company Preferences.
  3. If you're prompted to close other windows, click Yes.
  4. Re-enter your Manager password, click OK, then click the Microsoft 365 tab.
  5. Click Re-enter Microsoft 365 ID, enter your Microsoft 365 owner email then click Next.
  6. Enter the Password then click Sign in.
  7. Approve the sign-in request on your Microsoft Authenticator app.
    Alternatively, to verify your identity using a different method, click Sign in another way.
  8. Once approved, your data is synced with Microsoft 365.
  9. Click OK.

4 - Final checks
