Employment Verification FAQs
Description

What are the benefits of Employment Verification?

  • Accelerate employee access to services, when they need it most, such as applying for a loan or mortgages outside of working hours
  • Reduce the time and resource spent by you providing payslips and payroll and employment data as it’s automatically available and digitally accessed

Find out more in our Employment Verification service guide.

Is this feature a chargeable add-on?

The Employment Verification service is completely free to use as part of your existing Sage 50 Payroll support contract.

You will need to simply complete the reCaptcha process to authenticate yourself, so that data can be copied to Sage and the Employment Verification service will be enabled automatically.

Where is the data shared?

The Employment Verification service will use payroll and employment data that is uploaded to Sage each time an FPS is made. Employees will have the opportunity to obtain and share this data with another organisation, as part of a financial application service.

We have partnered with Experian, and from November 2022 also with Equifax, to bring this capability to as many employees as possible. If you decide to utilise this great new feature, this means that you can put your employees in control of their personal data, enabling them to access, share and verify their employment and payroll data, at their own discretion.

We will only ever share an employee’s payroll data with another organisation, via our trusted partners outside of Sage when you are utilising this feature, and your employee has explicitly asked for their data to be shared as part of their individual application process.

Who can gain access to the information, and how?

At launch this data will be available to our trusted partners via a connection to Sage’s Employment Verification service. However, before they can access any data, you must be utilising the service and your employee must have agreed that the specific data requested, be accessed.

The data will be shared only when both of these steps have been satisfied.

I can't complete the reCaptcha, what are my other options?

You will be offered a skip option to continue using Sage 50 Payroll as normal. As the reCaptcha isn’t controlled by Sage, please check your Internet browser and cookie settings.

I have an employee who wants to opt out.

Yes, you can disable the feature for individual employees at any time.

Can I disable this feature?

Yes, you can disable feature for any company, at any time. This will turn off the Employment Verification service, but data will still be uploaded to Sage your product Terms and Conditions and Data Protection Addendum.

I opted out, can I use this feature at a later date?

Yes, follow these steps to turn back on for any company you choose.

What if I receive a question from an employee about the service?

We have a handy guide that explains what the feature is and how it works. You can share this with your employees to help them decide whether they want to opt in to this service or not.

Is the data secure?

Yes, Sage takes data privacy and security very seriously. The privacy and security of your data is integral to our business. Sage has for many years securely managed online payroll data such as payslips and P60s for large numbers of UK employees. We use the highest security protocols and processes throughout the development cycle and in the live services used by our customers.

I’m using a trial of Sage 50 Payroll, can I use this feature?

Yes the Employment Verification service is available to trial users and connection to the data capture is conducted in line with your product Terms and Conditions and Data Protection Addendum. However, no data will be uploaded until an FPS is submitted. When you complete an FPS to HMRC, you can also upload data to the Employment Verification service.

Can any user set this up?

The employment verification feature is automatically enabled within the software once a user who has access to FPS Submissions has completed the reCaptcha process.

The latest data is uploaded to Sage automatically as part of the FPS process each period.
