ERROR: 'Installation not complete' Error code 1603 and 1921 when installing
Description

When you install Sage 50 Accounts updates, you can see this error:

Resolution

After each step, retry the installation.

Re-install from the temp folder

Install Sage 50 Accounts directly from the installation files in the temp folder.


End Sage data exchange task in Task Manager

While the installation window is running:

  1. Right-click the Windows Taskbar then select Task Manager or Start Task Manager.
  2. In the Background processes section, right-click Sage data exchange then select End task.
  3. Close Task Manager.

If the problem persists, continue to the Stop the Sage 50 Accounts service section.


Stop the Sage 50 Accounts service

  1. If you're still in the Installer window, click Close.
  2. Open Windows Task Manager by holding down Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
  3. Select the Details tab.
  4. Right-click sg50svc_vXX.exe, select End task then End process
     NOTE: vXX above refers to the installed version number, for example v30. 
  5. Close Task Manager.

Services stuck on the Stopping status? 

If the problem persists, continue to the Check for blank Windows System Information section.


Check for blank Windows System Information

  • Click Start and type System Information and open the system information app

If this window populates, as shown in the image below - Then there's no issue with the System Information App,continue to the Delete Control Service folders section.

 

If the app is blank or displays an error, then do the following:

  1. In the Windows search bar, enter cmd then right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator.
  2. Type net stop winmgmt press Enter, press Y to any continue message, then press Enter.  
    Unable to stop winmgmt?
    • Type winmgmt /resetrepository then press Enter

    This will report that the repository has been reset.

  3. Type net start winmgmt press Enter, then close the Command Prompt.
  4. Open the system information app again, and check if it's now displaying correctly.

This may report that the WMI Service is already started, which can be expected.

  1. Open Sage 50 Accounts and log in to the company. If the issue persists, continue to Step 6.
  2. Uninstall then reinstall Sage 50 Accounts. 

If the Windows System Information app is still blank, contact your IT administrator for further help.

If the problem persists, continue to the Delete Control Service folders section.


Delete Control Service folders

Ensure the Sage Control Service has stopped.

Browse to C:\Windows\Temp\.Net and delete any folders that refer to the Sage Control Service, for example, Sage.UK.Accounts50.Data.Service.Control_vxx.

If the problem persists, continue to the Re-install from the temp folder section.


If the issue persists

  1. Repeat steps 1 to 5 in the Stop the Sage 50 Accounts service section above.
  2. Browse to the %temp% folder and install from this location by double-clicking the Install.exe file.
