Corrupt username criteria files
Description

To resolve issues related to the username you're using, you must delete the criteria files. Sometimes you need to stop using your current username and create a new one. Issues can include: the application closing, crashing or becoming unresponsive.

 NOTE:  If you delete these files, any sorts, searches or filters in the relevant module reset. If you want to retain this information for unaffected areas, delete the files for the area where the issue is occurring only.

Delete your username criteria files

  1. Click Help, then About, and make a note of your Data Directory.
  2. Back up your data.
  3. Log everyone out of Sage 50 Accounts.
  4. Close Sage Accounts and Stop the Data Service or lock Remote Data Access.
  5. Browse to your data directory (ACCDATA folder), then delete any files from the following list:
    USERNAME represents the username that you're having a problem with. For example, if the username is David, a file will say David.SLC. If you don't have a username, the file is manager.xxx.

  6. Browse to and open the Criteria folder, then delete any files held within the Criteria folder.
    TIP: The criteria folder is in the same location as your data folder. For example, if your data folder is S:\sagedata\company.000\ACCDATA, your criteria folder is S:\sagedata\company.000\CRITERIA
  7. Restart the Sage 50 Accounts data services or unlock Remote Data Access.
  8. Open your software and test again.

Create a new username

  1. Open Sage 50 Accounts and log in MANAGER.
  2. Click Settings, then User Management, then Users.
  3. Delete the user you're having problems with, and create a new user, ensuring it has a slightly different user name.
  4. Login as the new user and test again.

If the Issue persists

A criteria file can also appear in the Taskopt folder.

  1. Log everyone out of Sage 50 Accounts.
  2. Back up your data.
  3. Ensure you have your Data Directory at hand.
    Remember, to find this click Help, then About, then look under Program Details.
  4. Close Sage 50 Accounts and Stop the Data Service or lock Remote Data Access.
  5. Browse to the folder that contains the Accdata folder and open the TaskOpt folder.
  6. Delete any relevant criteria files in this folder.

If the issue persists, there can be underlying data issues and you should contact Sage Technical Support.
