Quarterly update shows as update required after you send it

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

What to do if your quarterly update still shows as update required in Sage Accounting or Sage Sole Trader, even though HMRC has your figures.

Description

The Income tax page shows a status for each quarterly update. After you send an update, the status changes to complete.

We're aware of an issue where some accounts return to the Income tax home page instead, and the status stays as update required. HMRC still receives the figures in these cases. The status in Sage is wrong, not the submission.

Resolution

Confirm HMRC has your update

  1. Go to GOV.UK and sign in to your HMRC online account.
  2. Check the quarterly updates HMRC holds for the tax year.
  3. Compare the totals against the update you sent from Sage Sole Trader.

If HMRC holds your figures, the submission worked. Report the status to us so we can correct it in your account.

CAUTION:

Don't send the update again before you check your HMRC account. A second submission makes the records harder to match.

Report the issue

Complete our reporting form here: forms.cloud.microsoft

Our team investigates the status against your account and contacts you with the outcome. Keep using Sage Sole Trader as normal while we investigate. The status does not stop your next quarterly update.
