Summary
How Sage 50 Accounts behaves during an Internet outage, including connected services, Remote Data Access (RDA), and local data access.
Description
If your Internet connection fails, Sage 50 Accounts continues to work with local data. The impact depends on which connected services you use.
- Sage 50 Accounts always stores data locally. Connected services sync data to the cloud only if you enable them
- If you lose Internet access, you can't use online portals or features that need a live connection, such as HMRC VAT submissions
- For connected services that sync data, changes stop flowing during an outage. The software will show you warning messages, but local data remains available. When connectivity returns, the system catches up automatically
- RDA requires cloud and local updates. If connectivity fails, you can choose to close the data or work offline without your Sage account
- Working offline lets you run reports and make changes locally
- When connectivity returns, data reconciles with the cloud. If multiple sites worked offline, conflicts can occur. Choose whether to use local or cloud data. The software takes backups any applying changes
- Sage Copilot requires a Sage account login, which needs Internet access. If offline, you can log in as the manager user without connected services to continue working locally
- You can always access local data and perform tasks that don't rely on Internet connectivity
