Summary

How to use the journal reversal option in Sage 50 Accounts.

Description

If you post a journal in error, with an incorrect date or amount, you can correct it by reversing it. You can either reverse the journal manually or use the journal reversal option.

Resolution

Reverse the journals

  1. Go to transactions and note the transaction details in the NoDebt, Date, and Ref columns.

TIP: If you're unsure of the transaction numbers, leave the transaction range as default to find all journals for that date.

  1. Go to Nominal codes then select Journal reversal.
  2. Select Backup Now if you don't have a backup already.
  3. Select OK on the Journal Reversal window.
  4. Enter the transaction numbers in the Transaction Range section.
  5. Complete the Posting Information section with the original journal information noted in step 1.
  6. Select OK.
  7. Select the journals that you want to reverse, select Reverse, then Save.  TIP: Select multiple lines with the Sage selection style method.

The audit trail shows the reverse journals with a reference of REVERSE and the original transaction number in details.

Reversed the incorrect journals

If you've reversed the wrong transactions, you can reverse them, or restore the backup taken before the process.
