Summary

In Sage 50 Accounts, if you receive any errors, we recommend you fix these before continuing.

Description

When you check your data you can see the following error:

'Header transaction (number) is not linked to ledgers'.

Resolution

To correct this error, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to File, then Maintenance and select Check Data.
  2. Click the Warnings tab and if either of the following warnings appear, make a note of the amounts:
    • Sales aged balance disagrees with Debtors Control by (amount)
    • Purchase aged balance disagrees with Creditors Control by (amount)
  3. Click the Technical Information tab then from the Dataset Information section, note the number of Splits.
  4. Select Recovery Tools, when prompted, follow the instructions and create a data backup.
  5. Select Reindex and Compress All, then click OK.
  6. Select Recalculate Transaction History, then click OK.
  7. Select Recalculate Period Values, click OK and click Close.
  8. When prompted to check the data again, click Yes.

CAUTION: You must restore an error free backup and re-process if the errors, warnings or splits differ in the steps below.

    • If no Aged Balance warnings appear, or the balance has not changed, continue to the next step
    • If the Aged Balance warnings have changed, run the Nominal codes > Reports > Day Books: Nominal Ledger report to check if any journals that appear on the Debtors (1100) or Creditors (2100) control accounts match these balances. If they match, continue to the next step

If they don't match or don't appear, restore an error free backup and re-process.

  1. Click the Technical Information tab and check the number of Splits. If the number is different to that recorded at step 3, restore an error free backup and re-process.
