Summary

How to install updates in Sage 50 Accounts and Sage 50 Payroll after an issue installing Sage automatic updates.

Description

Resolution

If you have an issue when installing an automatic update, install the update manually instead.

Download and install the update manually

For help with downloading and install an update, visit the following guides:

Run the existing downloaded update again

Alternatively, you can browse to the update that your software downloaded automatically and run this.

When you download an available update, it saves in:

  • C:\ProgramData\Sage\SBD Software Updates\Downloaded

When you install a downloaded update, your software moves it from the Downloaded folder to:

  • C:\ProgramData\Sage\SBD Software Updates\Installed

If the installation fails, browse to one of the above folders. When you find the required update, double-click the file and follow the on-screen instructions.

NOTE: The installedsoftwareupdates.log includes a log of automatic updates, but doesn't include the installation files.

Update stuck or looping

If your update doesn't complete or keeps looping around the installation process, rename a folder to fix this:

  1. Close your Sage software.
  2. Press the Windows key and E to open File Explorer.
  3. Browse to C:\ProgramData\Sage\.
  4. Right-click the folder named SBD Software Updates, and click Rename.
  5. Change the name to SBD Software Updates OLD and press Enter on your keyboard.
  6. Re-open your software as normal.
