Summary
Description
When you make a submission to HMRC, you sometimes receive the following message:
'This information cannot be submitted electronically because HMRC do not accept submissions of this type for the 2026/2027 tax year'
Resolution
This occurs if you try to submit using a software version for a previous tax year.
To submit RTI submissions, you must use the correct version of your software for the tax year you need to submit.
Check your version
- Click Help then About.
- Under Program Details, check the version is 32.00 or above.
- For the 2026/2027 tax year, the version number must be 32.00 or above
- For the 2025/2026 tax year, the version number must be 31.00 or above

If your software version is correct and the problem persists, follow the below steps.
Earlier year update (EYU)
This message sometimes appears when you try to submit an EYU.
Check that your process date is the last day of the tax year that you're submitting an EYU for, then try again.
If you're using the correct tax year software
If you've installed the correct version of the software for your tax year and the problem persists, follow the steps below.
- Close Sage 50 Payroll.
- Press the Windows key
+ R, and enter the following path then click OK: - C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Sage\Internet Submissions\V5
- Delete the following .dll files:
- Esubs.model
- Esubs.model.interfaces
- Esubs.view
- Esubs.viewmodel
- SgEData
- SgELauncher
- Check that your Windows profile has full permissions to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Sage.
- Reinstall Sage 50 Payroll.

Microsoft .NET framework
If the issue still occurs, delete the above folders again, follow the Microsoft .NET Framework article.
A software error occurred
If you see the error:
- 'A software error occurred. This is likely to be due to a mismatch in your electronic submission components'
This occurs if the C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Sage\Internet Submissions\V5 folder or the files within aren't in place.
