Description
If Sage 50 Accounts doesn't recognise your subscription, or you want to enter a new one, you can reset it.
NOTE: If you're in Ireland, ensure your Windows regional settings are English (Ireland) and your location is Ireland. Follow our article to check or edit your computer's regional settings.
Resolution
Before you start
Try updating your licence information in the software:
- Go to Tools then select Activation.
- Select Upgrade Program then click OK.
- Enter your Serial Number and Activation Key.
- The Account Number field will appear, enter this, then click OK.
Reset the subscription key
TIP: Before you start, make sure you have your new licence information. Need to find it? Use our Find your Sage serial number, activation key, and account number article.
- Close Sage 50 Accounts.
- Hold down the Windows Key, then press E to open File Explorer.
- In the address bar, type C:\ProgramData\Sage\ then press Enter.
- Right-click SDK Licence, select Rename then rename the folder to SDK Licence OLD.
TIP: If you can't see the folder, select View, then Show and select Hidden items.
- In the address bar type the following relevant path:
Sage Accounts v33 or above C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\Vxx. Where xx is the year of your software. For example, V33. Sage Accounts v32 or below C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\20xx
. Where xx is the year of your software. For example, v32 is 2026.
- Delete the sage.usr file.
TIP: This is held in C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\XXXX. Replace XXXX with the relevant year or version, as per the table in step 5. - Click the button below to download the registry fix:
Download the registry fix - If prompted to save the file, note the file name, then click Save.
- Browse to and double-click the downloaded file.
- Click Yes, click Yes, then click OK.
- Open Sage 50 Accounts and when prompted, enter your Serial number, Activation key, and Account number.
