Download and install the Sage Accounts Data Service

This guide explains what the Sage Accounts Data Service is and provides downloads to install Sage Accounts Data Service v21-v28, as well as steps on how to download and install them onto your compatible computer or server.

Description

The Sage Accounts Data Service runs on the computer or server where your Sage 50cloud Accounts data is held. The service controls the reading and writing of data. Using this service increases the robustness of the system, improves data security and helps to optimise performance. 

The data service installs automatically when you install your software, however, if your data is held on a computer that doesn't have Sage 50cloud Accounts installed, you must install the data service on that computer separately. To do this you can either download and install the full program which includes the data service, or if you don't want to use Sage 50cloud Accounts on the computer or server that you want to hold your data, then download and install just the data services only.

To download only the data services, follow the steps below.

NOTE: If you need to use Sage 50cloud Accounts on the computer that holds your data, download and install the full program instead.


Download

 CAUTION: Before you install, ensure your computer or server meets the system requirements for your version of Sage Accounts, and your firewall doesn't block the Sage Data Service.


  1. On the computer that holds your data, click the relevant link for your version: 
  2. If prompted to save the file, note the file name then click Save

    Depending on your web browser, the file may automatically save to your Downloads folder. To view your Downloads folder, press Ctrl + J on your keyboard.

  3. Browse to and double-click the file downloaded, then follow the on-screen prompts.

  4. Once complete, to install the latest updates for the data service, click the relevant link for your version:
  5. If prompted to save the file, note the file name then click Save

    Depending on your web browser, the file may automatically save to your Downloads folder. To view your Downloads folder, press Ctrl + J on your keyboard.

  6. Browse to and double-click the file downloaded, then follow the on-screen prompts.

    Alternatively, right click on the filed downloaded, click Run as administrator, then follow the on-screen prompts. This ensures permissions do not block the installation.

    NOTE: During installation prompts, make sure to select the option Data service only install.


Once you have installed the Data Service all you can start using using Sage 50cloud Accounts on the other connected computers, or you can install the relevant full version on other computers if you haven't already.
