Resolution

Refresh the legislation tables

If you experience this issue after you've installed an update, you need to refresh the legislation tables:

  1. Click Payroll then click Change Process Date.
  2. Change the Process Date to 06/04/2024 then click OK.
    The following message appears:
'You have entered a processing date in the 2024/2025 Tax Year. A default set of legislation has been created by copying the 2023/2024 values.
You must correct the 2024/2025 legislation before updating records for this year.'
TIP: This refreshes the legislation tables.
  3. Click OK then click Change Process Date.
  4. Set the process to the date that you're paying your employees.
  5. Click OK then select the required employees then click Enter Payments.

If the issue still occurs, proceed to the create a new employee group section below.

Create a new employee group

  1. Right-click Employee Groups then click New Employee Group.
  2. Enter a name for the group then click OK.
  3. Highlight the employees in the Employee List, then right click on one of them and click Assign To Group.
  4. Select the new group then click Save.
  5. Right-click the old group then click Delete Employee Group.

If enter payments still closes Sage 50 Payroll, you need to restore a backup that you took before you upgraded to v29.
