Description
Before you can start emailing your documents, you need to ensure your email settings are correct, depending on the email service you use.
IMPORTANT: Your Sage software doesn't support Microsoft's New Outlook application. If you enable this, you can no longer export emails from Sage 50 Payroll to Outlook. You can disable this setting in Outlook to ▼ Return to the compatible version

Preparation
Before you can email a payslip or report to your employees, there's a few preparation steps to carry out first.
NOTE: If you've already updated records and need to reprint payslips, follow our separate article on how to reprint payslips.

Webmail | You can use services such as Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft 365 to email your documents. As these are cloud based services, you'll need to configure your SMTP settings. Use webmail (SMTP) to email documents |
Set up your employees to receive documents by email | You can specify which employees have agreed to receive documents electronically and add a date of confirmation. You can also set up a password to protect these documents from an unauthorised person opening them. Set up employees to receive documents by email |
Email a payslip
- Go to Employee.
- Highlight the relevant employee, then Pre-update reports.
- Select Email, then use one of our standard email payslips.
- Select Email.
Email a report
You can email different reports to your employees, such as a payslip.
- Locate and select the report you want to use, then select Email.
- If required, enter your criteria, then select OK.
A missing email settings screen appears. - Click Yes, then select your Provider and Format.
- Click OK.
