Back up your data

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

Take a backup of your data in Sage 50 Payroll.

Description

We recommend you take regular backups of your data and store them away from your computer. For example, on a USB. This means if anything happens to your computer you can restore the backup and continue processing where you left off.

Back up before and after you update your payroll and before you make significant changes to your records. To keep your data more secure, you can back up to more than one location. For example, a USB and server.

NOTE: Unlike Sage 50 Accounts, Sage 50 Payroll doesn't take scheduled backups.

Resolution

Take a backup

NOTE: If you see an ODBC error during the steps below, follow our ODBC Microsoft Access Driver Login Failed guide.

  1. On the menu bar, click File then click Backup.
  2. Click Next then click the Files to include in your backup.
  3. Click Next then click Browse.
  4. Browse to where you want to save the file.
  5. Rename the file to make it clear when it's from.
  6. Click Save then click Next.
  7. Click Finish then click OK.

TIP: If your backup file's large, try to back up certain files separately, such as your documents. Documents in particular can add a large amount of size to your backup.
