What's changing?
Transport Layer Security (TLS) is an external security protocol, designed to encourage privacy and data security for communications over the internet.
Some older versions of Sage 50 Accounts use TLS when communicating with the Sage Licence Server to perform licence checks.
TLS 1.0 and 1.1 have been formally retired, and therefore subject to potential security breaches. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IEFT) sets the standards across the internet and now recommends the use of TLS 1.2 and 1.3.
What this means for your software
Our main priority is to ensure we protect your data in accordance with the latest industry standards.
Therefore, we started to switch off retired versions of TLS from 30 September 2022 for our remaining services, Auto Update and Sage License Server.
If you're using an affected version, you'll need to upgrade to a newer version of your software. Here is everything you need to do.
